Being More Active

As part of my resolutions this year, I have to decided to have a more active life. I'm not talking about just being more phyiscally active. I'm referring to doing more with my time. I feel that I have missed of great times in my life because I have made up excuses to not do things.

Up until now, I've had a tendency to want to just be lazy after work and on my days off. I always blamed it on being tired and just wanting to rest. What I have found, though, is that my time off wasn't really restful and felt that it was over too soon.

I've already started this in the last few weeks and being active has proven to be a better choice. Time spent being active feels much longer after the fact, because our brain measure past time in memories. When we make more memories, it feels like it took longer, even if it was the same amount of time.

I may still want to spend a Saturday here and there doing nothing. For the most part, however, I would like to have plans every weekend. Between Magic tournaments, parties, events, and gaming nights with my friends, I don't think it will be that big of a problem.

It's time for me to sieze the opportunities in life, rather than just letting them float by. I want to be able to look back at the end of this year, and know that I couldn't have done much more in the time. I also encourage you all to do the same as well.

  1. I do read this every day & today I must add. You Go!!! One reason I'm still so active is that I never stopped. Theater, church, service work, a full time job. All of these things have kept me kicking up my heels as I approach 70. If you don't use it, or never use it, you loose it. Keep it up.
